10:00-10:45 Seeing differently with Centering Prayer

Joy Andrews Hayter, Ph.D.

Centering Prayer prepares us to more fully enter the interior silence and receive the gift of God’s presence, beyond thoughts, words and emotions. Centering Prayer facilitates the movement from more active modes of prayer–verbal, mental, or affective prayer–into a receptive prayer of resting in God. It emphasizes prayer as a personal relationship with God. As our practice proceeds we can see and be in the world more intimately.

Joy Andrews Hayter, Ph.D. is a spiritual director, and Centering Prayer coordinator at Mercy Center Burlingame.
