Praying in Silence is Not Easy

Many of us long for more quiet in our lives — yet when we finally slow down, we encounter restlessness, mental chatter, and distraction. What is your comfort level with silence? Do you feel uneasy when things grow still or when you try to pray?

If silence and solitude are uncomfortable, you are not alone.

Come explore the beauty and challenge of silence and solitude.

Silence is not empty. It is spacious. It is sacred. It is often where the deepest movements of the heart become known. Silence is the language of God. Silence can be the most beautiful prayer.

Yet it is common to feel resistant to the stillness. That is why it can be helpful to reflect on what gets in the way and how you can be nurturing towards yourself when you are trying to integrate moments of quiet in your life.

Together we will:

  • Explore why silence can feel difficult

  • Practice guided and shared silence

  • Learn practical ways to create moments of stillness in daily life

Throughout our time together, you will be gently guided into moments of shared silence — a communal experience of listening within and holding one another in quiet presence.

It was a beautiful retreat! The moments of silence we shared deepened my sense of repose and peace with God at the stillpoint within me.
