Courage for the Call

What can I expect from this online retreat?

Flexibility: Take Privately, Self-Paced, or Communal

This online retreat is created to be flexible and meaningful for the person who wants to take this as a self-paced, private experience and for the person who wants to share the journey to courage in community over the course of six weeks.

The six weekly reflections are sent out beginning February 13, 2026. You have access to the material for one year so if you do not want the communal experience you can start whenever you choose and take it at the pace that works for you.

A facilitator trained in spiritual direction will guide the written and virtual sharing for six weeks. Whether you share during the six weeks or several months later, we uphold strict confidentiality agreements. Your comments stay safe within the private retreat platform that cannot be accessed by people who are not registered.

Week One (opens February 13)

Welcome. Defining Courage in a New Way. Practice: Walking Meditation.

Define courage as a place of befriending fear and trust. You no longer have to rely on pretending to be strong when you are afraid or waiting to feel bold when you have to make an intimidating move.

Optional Zoom Gathering on Thursday, February 19, 2026

Optional Zoom Gathering on Sunday, February 22, 2026

Week Two (opens February 20)

When it is Hard to Surrender and Let Go. Practice: Surrender with God

If you have a hard time with the word surrender, you are not alone. Being open to trusting and allowing God to work through you is a process, one that takes time and practice.

Optional Zoom Gathering on Thursday, February 26, 2026

Optional Zoom Gathering on Sunday, March 1, 2026

Week Three (opens February 27)

Name Your Fear. Tame Your Fear. Practice: Guided Meditation.

Fear can overwhelm us in debilitating ways. Even talking about our fears can be stressful. Yet when you are specific in naming your fear and honest in your willingness to walk with it, the fear may have less of a hold on you.

Optional Zoom Gathering on Thursday, March 5, 2026

Optional Zoom Gathering on Sunday, March 8, 2026

Week Four (opens March 6)

Be Still. Know that I am God. Practice: Breath Prayer.

Courage is a gift of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God” is a promise from God to us. It is a pathway to help us let go of our fears and trust that God is with us no matter what. A promise that God will give us the gift of courage. As you dig deeper into the meaning behind the words, you may be surprised to find how much Psalm 46:10 can help you experience courage.

Optional Zoom Gathering on Thursday, March 12, 2026

Optional Zoom Gathering on Sunday, March 15, 2026

Week Five (opens March 13)

Trust and Vulnerability. Practice: Be Vulnerable with God.

Consider vulnerability as a way to access your heart. When you allow yourself to be vulnerable, you are saying, Yes. I know I may get hurt or feel uncomfortable, and that is a part of life. I am willing to take the risk for the benefit of having relationships and love in my life.

Optional Zoom Gathering on Thursday, March 19, 2026

Optional Zoom Gathering on Sunday, March 22, 2026

Week Six (opens March 20)

Courage and Hope. Hope and Your Sacred Self. Practice: Practicing Hope.

Life will always come with struggle. In that struggle, you have the choice to become bitter or better. If you make the intention to become better, you are rewarded with the gift of courage. From courage, you can discover hope. The two are deeply interconnected.

What People are Saying…

About the Gift of Growth and Community in These Online Retreats

Retreat, Reflect, Renew is special to me personally because I needed a spiritual family, as I am not connected to a church right now. It became a home where I felt comfortable and accepted and a place to grow my faith and practice my spirituality in a supportive and non-judgmental place. — Maureen G., CA

I developed trust in the retreat leader and the community, enough to take the risk of sharing my voice and developing more confidence in what I hear within me. I appreciated Christine’s voice in the retreat saying it's ok not to be perfect, it's ok if you’re scared to try silence. Her writing made me feel like she was “taking my hand.” And with that support, I walked into the depth of myself, of prayer, and of community.— Karen B., CA

I have learned so much from you and from your thoughtful retreats. My relationship with Christ has changed, and I think that has contributed a lot to my ability to carry my cross. My prayer life is more intimate. My conversations with Jesus are more authentic. I feel less alone. I have learned to allow joy and sadness, hope and fear, peace and panic to co-exist in my life. I have given myself permission to not have life all figured out, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me with this. — Debbie B., CT
