Persistent Hope

A Reflection by Maureen Gerecke

When I reflect on hope, I fall (metaphorically) into the arms of God. It is there—in the safety and care of the Divine Presence—that I feel most hopeful. For me to have hope, I need faith and trust in something beyond myself. With my heart open wide to receive the awareness of God, I find hope in this moment and for the future.

Just the idea of hope lifts my eyes to a new outlook. With a new perspective, I find I am better able to anticipate a positive outcome where my dreams and aspirations are realized. Hope brings me to the highest point of view, where nothing is lacking and nothing is needed, just belief in the Divine Presence to handle whatever the situation is in the best way possible for all involved. It is trusting that God reveals a plan or a way forward for the good of all and the harm of none.

Hope is the light in the darkness, the warmth in the cold, and the comfort of knowing I am always loved. I am never without hope.

Reflect: How do you describe hope? What does it look, feel, and taste like for you? Write a letter to God, asking God to show you where to find hope.

Did this reflection resonate with you?

We share the month’s theme in Sacred Circles every month. Come to one or come to all. New people are always welcome.

And this month, we are offering an information meeting for those wanting to learn more.
